Travel Information
* United Airlines flies to/from Aspen and Denver's International Airport. They have hourly departures to Aspen from approximately 9:00am to 9:00pm daily. The flight time between Denver/Aspen is 45 minutes. * There are the usual car rental companies at the Denver International Airport and the Aspen Airport: Avis, Budget, Hertz, etc. * To drive from Denver to Aspen takes between 3-4 hours depending on which route is taken. Aspen is about 150 miles west of Denver. The first route runs along I-70 to Aspen via Glenwood Springs. This takes about 4 hours. I-70 joins with Highway 82 at Glenwood Springs; 82 will take you all the way into Aspen. The second route is via Independence Pass (the turn off is along I-70 just at Dillon). This is a shorter drive (3 hours), the road is narrow and steep over the Pass and the scenery is outstanding.
Travel Around Aspen
* There is a free and handy bus service available around (and outside of) Aspen. * Many lodging/reservation sites are within walking distance of the Given Institute. Please inquire when making your hotel reservations
Aspen Weather
* Aspen (altitude 8,000') is in a beautiful mountain setting. During the 5 days of the conference, it has been known to rain. Temperatures can run from short sleeves to warm jacket weather.
What to Wear
* Conference registrants dress very casually wearing knits, shirts with no ties, shorts and cotton trousers. The most "dressy" occasion is the Aspen Music Festival followed by the President's Reception (held outside). Some elect to wear jackets and ties or dresses while others may choose to dress quite casually. (Sweaters or jackets are usually needed for the outside reception.) |
